Job summary

Houzz Inc. is seeking a senior accounting leader to own technical accounting, financial reporting, and controls globally. The role partners with the VP, Financial Operations & Controller to scale the accounting organization and enhance close speed and reporting accuracy.

The ideal candidate will drive process improvement, develop talent, and champion automation and AI to support growth while ensuring audit readiness and robust governance across entities and currencies.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience including leadership in technical accounting and financial reporting.
• CPA license required with public accounting background (Big 4 or national firm).
• Deep technical accounting expertise translating GAAP guidance into practical applications.
• Experience preparing memos, policies, audit support, and executive-level conclusions.
• Proven ability to develop teams and establish repeatable operating practices.
• Hands-on knowledge of month-end close, reconciliations, intercompany activity and tax compliance operations.

Responsibilities

• Own the company's technical accounting function and audit-ready documentation, setting the reporting roadmap.
• Lead core accounting operations end-to-end: payroll, order-to-cash, close governance, reconciliations.
• Own international accounting and tax compliance—multi-currency consolidation and intercompany eliminations.
• Build, coach, and develop a high-performing accounting team with scalable playbooks.
• Drive process standardization, automation, and responsible AI adoption for a faster finance function.
• Strengthen internal controls environment with SOPs, control frameworks, and scalable standards.
• Drive SOX readiness through design, scoping, and deficiency remediation.
