We are seeking an experienced tax professional to join as a Tax Director. This role involves managing Smartsheet’s income tax compliance and reporting, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure legal compliance.

You will report to our VP, Tax & International Accounting. This position is remote with a preference for Mountain or West Coast time zones.

Responsibilities

1. Manage federal and state income tax compliance processes, including preparation of apportionment schedules.
2. Review consolidated income tax quarterly and annual financial statement calculations and disclosures.
3. Lead global tax forecasting, including tax expense and cash taxes.
4. Monitor tax legislation, court cases, and rulings impacting the company; implement necessary business process changes.
5. Manage tax audits, responding to queries and information requests.
6. Assist in process improvements for tax systems and compliance.
7. Review monthly account reconciliations for income tax general ledger accounts.
8. Maintain documentation of internal tax processes and controls.
9. Manage and develop a small team, supporting hiring and growth.
10. Support special projects as needed.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.
2. 10+ years in tax accounting and compliance, including public accounting and corporate tax experience.
3. 5+ years of people management experience, with a proven leadership record.
4. Strong knowledge of ASC 740, income tax laws, and research skills.
5. Experience with tax software and financial reporting tools.

US base salary range: $172,500 - $221,250 USD, with incentive opportunities.
