We are currently seeking a Tax Director, Indirect Tax for one of our clients, working remotely from the United States.

In this role, you will manage and ensure compliance with various indirect taxes, including sales, property, VAT, and other state and local taxes. Your responsibilities will include overseeing tax return preparation and filing, collaborating with internal teams for accurate data collection, managing tax audits, and contributing to the development of tax strategies, process improvements, and compliance initiatives. This position requires a strategic thinker capable of managing multiple tax functions efficiently while providing valuable financial guidance.

Accountabilities
  • Manage the preparation and filing of indirect tax returns, including sales/use, property, VAT, and others.
  • Oversee tax audits and ensure compliance with all relevant tax laws.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate data collection for tax reporting.
  • Implement tax strategies and process improvements to optimize tax compliance and efficiency.
  • Maintain and update tax calendars to ensure timely filing of all returns.
Requirements
  • 8+ years of relevant corporate tax experience, ideally in both corporate tax departments and CPA firms.
  • Experience managing sales tax compliance across all 50 states, including research and planning.
  • Proficiency with Avalara, Oracle, or similar ERP systems.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. and Canadian sales tax, property tax, and indirect tax rules.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance, or tax; CPA and/or MBT preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP), and tax research tools like RIA Checkpoint.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with high attention to detail.
