Job summary

Aero Simulation, Inc. is seeking a Director of Systems Engineering to lead our Systems and Software Engineering orgs, ensuring the team has the capabilities, processes, tools, and resources to execute programs successfully.

The role establishes priorities, develops leadership and technical talent, and addresses cross-program challenges, promoting integration across ASI programs. DoD clearance and domestic travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 15 years in engineering in a complex technical environment.
• Minimum 7 years in engineering leadership or management.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams on systems and software projects.
• Experience in flight simulation, aerospace, defense, or training systems preferred.
• Experience with systems engineering: requirements, architecture, interfaces, integration, verification, validation.
• Experience with planning, labor estimating, resource forecasting, risk management.

Responsibilities

• Oversees software and systems engineering personnel, capabilities, processes, and resources to support program requirements.
• Manages staffing, workload, utilization, and resource allocation across programs; resolves capacity concerns.
• Guides Project Engineers in addressing technical challenges, coordination, and execution needs.
• Establishes engineering standards, processes, tools, and best practices; drives efficiency and quality.
• Partners with HR and group leaders on workforce planning, onboarding, performance, and retention.
• Develops group leaders and engineers through coaching, mentoring, and training.
• Supports proposals with staffing, labor estimates, technical input, and risk identification.
• Ensures activities comply with processes, quality requirements, and configuration management.
• Keeps COO informed of significant engineering performance and resource concerns.
