Job summary

Aero Simulation, Inc. (ASI) in Tampa, FL seeks a Director of Systems Engineering to lead its Systems and Software Engineering organizations and ensure capabilities, processes, and resources for current and future programs.

You will set engineering priorities, mentor leaders, coordinate across programs, and drive improvements in efficiency, quality, and technical capability. This role requires senior-level expertise in systems and software engineering within aerospace/defense domains.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of progressively responsible engineering experience in a complex technical environment.
• 7+ years of engineering leadership or management experience.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and complex systems development, integration, and test activities.
• Experience in flight simulation, aerospace, defense, or training systems preferred.
• Knowledge of systems engineering lifecycle, requirements, architecture, interfaces, integration, verification, and validation.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally; DoD/ government contracting familiarity a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversees Software and Systems Engineering personnel, capabilities, processes, and resources to support program requirements.
• Manages staffing, workload, utilization, and resource allocation; resolves conflicts and escalates to COO as needed.
• Guides Project Engineers on technical challenges, coordination, and resource needs.
• Establishes and maintains engineering standards, processes, tools, and best practices; drives efficiency and quality.
• Partners with HR and group leaders on workforce planning, recruiting, onboarding, and retention.
• Supports proposals with engineering staffing, labor estimates, and risk assessment.
• Ensures compliance with quality requirements, configuration management, and technical standards.
