Job summary

The City of New York’s Department of Social Services invites applications for the Director of Supportive Housing Rent-Up Unit. This full-time role oversees housing coordinators, ensures timely placement into permanent supportive housing, and coordinates across HRA, DHS, NYCHA, and partner providers to meet aggressive placement goals.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a relevant field and two years of professional supervisory experience.
• Bachelor's degree plus four years of professional experience, including 18 months in supervisory capacity.
• Associate degree plus six years of professional experience, including 18 months supervisory experience.
• High school diploma and eight years of professional experience with supervisory experience.
• Combination of education and experience as described above.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative oversight into rent-up unit operations to meet city and agency mandates.
• Collaborate to enhance protocols for coordination, tracking, and placement of homeless households.
• Deliver on goals by directing staff to produce high-quality deliverables on time.
• Manage relationships with HRA, DOHMH, DHS, NYCHA, HPD and providers to ensure placement and documentation.
• Communicate with government partners and landlords to support efficient placements.
• Prepare statistical and analytical reports for DSS executive leadership on placement status.
• Review daily assignments and records to monitor unit progress.
• Lead staff meetings and training to improve rent-up processes and solve operational challenges.
• Participate in the NYC 15/15 RFP review process and provide updates to leadership.
