Job summary

Blue Origin LLC is seeking a Director of Supplier Quality to lead the supplier quality organization across our manufacturing ecosystem. You will shape strategies, mentor two Senior Managers and SQEs, and partner with Procurement and Engineering to reduce risk and drive supplier performance.

The role requires deep expertise in supplier qualification, audits, PPAP and NPI processes, with a track record of implementing strategic QA solutions in aerospace or advanced manufacturing environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Quality, or a related technical field.
• 10+ years of experience in supplier quality, manufacturing quality, or related discipline.
• 5+ years of people management experience.
• Demonstrated experience leading supplier audits and qualification activities.
• Proficiency with quality tools such as FMEA, 8D, APQP, SPC, and MSA.
• Strong knowledge of AS9100 or equivalent quality management system standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement supplier quality management strategies aligned with company goals and program requirements
• Lead a team of two Senior Managers and multiple Supplier Quality Engineers (SQEs) responsible for supplier qualification, audits, and performance monitoring
• Establish and maintain supplier qualification and approval processes, including first article inspections (FAI) and production part approval processes (PPAP)
• Drive root cause analysis and corrective action (RCCA) processes for supplier-related nonconformances
• Manage supplier scorecards and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track and improve supplier quality performance
• Partner with Procurement and Engineering to assess and mitigate supply chain risk
• Support supplier development initiatives to build long-term supplier capability and capacity
• Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001, NADCAP)
• Support new product introduction (NPI) by qualifying suppliers for new materials, components, and processes
• Represent Supplier Quality in design reviews, program reviews, and executive-level briefings
