Job summary

Blue Origin in Merritt Island, FL seeks a Director of Supplier Quality to lead supplier quality across programs, partnering with operations, procurement, and engineering to ensure on-time delivery and compliance for sub-orbital and orbital manufacturing.

Responsibilities include developing strategies, leading two senior managers and multiple SQEs, managing PPAP/FAI, driving RCCA, and maintaining supplier scorecards; travel up to 50% and relocation offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Quality, or related technical field.
• 10+ years in supplier or manufacturing quality.
• 5+ years in people management.
• Experience leading supplier audits and qualification activities.
• Proficiency with quality tools (FMEA, 8D, APQP, SPC, MSA).
• Strong knowledge of AS9100 or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement supplier quality management strategies aligned with goals and program requirements.
• Lead a team of two Senior Managers and multiple SQEs for supplier qualification, audits, and performance monitoring.
• Establish supplier qualification/approval processes, including FAI and PPAP.
• Drive RCCA processes for supplier-related nonconformances.
• Manage supplier scorecards and KPIs to improve quality performance.
• Partner with Procurement and Engineering to assess and mitigate supply chain risk.
• Support supplier development initiatives to build long-term capability.
• Ensure compliance with AS9100/ISO 9001/NADCAP standards.
• Support NPI by qualifying suppliers for new materials and processes.
• Represent Supplier Quality in design/program reviews and executive briefings.
