Job summary

Safran in California seeks a Subcontracts and Commodities Director to lead the IFE/IFC Operations Subcontracts and Commodities organization, managing cross-functional teams in contract negotiation and strategic supplier management to ensure on-time delivery to RAVE customers.

The role coordinates with engineering, legal and senior management to deploy commodity strategies, budget planning and continuous improvement across the supply base. Strong leadership and negotiation skills are required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Creates, negotiates and maintains all contracts with existing and new suppliers.
• Defines contract strategy with senior management for new and existing suppliers.
• Defines Cost Down Opportunities with Engineering and Senior management.
• Collaborates with NPI team to define make/buy strategy and supplier selection.
• Supports early-stage supplier selection and coordinates RFPs.
• Assists Procurement Management with hand-offs and contractual challenges.
• Works with Legal to create and execute supplier contracts and compliance docs.
• Builds strong partnerships with suppliers and applies company standards.
• Drives subcontract management to ensure key suppliers under contract with TS&Cs.
• Owns commodity management strategy and supplier divestment/sustain/growth.
• Leads management of supplier PPV processes and BU PPV goals.
• Prepares reports/presentations for senior/executive management.
• Promotes a customer-centric culture to address needs professionally.

Job description

The Subcontracts and Commodities Director is a leadership position responsible for all aspects of the IFE and IFC Operations Subcontracts and Commodities Organization. This includes, but is not limited to, the management of cross functional team responsible for, subcontract management and contract negotiation and strategic commodity management in support of on time delivery to RAVE customers. This position serves as a primary contact providing internal and external coordination including planning, development and management of Rave Supplier base. In addition, this position is responsible for the supply base commodity strategy. Additional responsibility includes department budget planning and review in support of programs and internal operations. The director will work with various groups and departments to deploy the strategies of the company as well as assist Senior Management in achieving both BU and corporate Operations and Supply Chain goals.

Core Responsibilities

• Creates, negotiates and maintains all contracts with existing and new suppliers
• Works with Senior management to define contract strategy for new and existing suppliers
• Works with Engineering and Senior management to define Cost Down Opportunities
• Works with New Product Introduction team to define make/buy strategy, supplier selection, SOW/RFQ creation and submission in support of all new developments
• Support Product and Program in early-stage supplier selection to include RFP coordination with internal teams as well as potential new suppliers
• Works closely with Procurement Management and Team assisting with New Product hand-off and contractual challenges
• Works closely with Legal representation to create and execute all supplier contracts and compliance documents
• Build strong partnerships with existing and new suppliers and applies company standards as applicable
• Drive subcontract management to ensure Key suppliers are under contract with key T&C flow downs
• Own the Commodity management process to include commodity strategy to divest, sustain or grow suppliers.
• Assists the Commodity Manager with the development of assigned commodity strategy
• Lead the management of supplier PPV process and drive BU PPV goals
• Prepares reports and presentations for senior and executive management, as needed
• Promote and foster a customer centric culture that will address customer needs in a professional and timely manner
• Ensure and enforce compliance with company and regulatory policies and standards
• Lead the development of policies and procedures in relation to subcontract and commodity processes

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in a related field
• 10+ years of experience working in Programs, Subcontracts and Supplier Management
• 7+ years of experience working in a Management role
• 3+ years of experience establishing budgets
• Previous experience creating contracts
• Experienced negotiator
• Ability to adapt, plan and organize in a constantly changing environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Must be proactive, meticulous, organized, and detail oriented
• Ability to efficiently resolve problems

Benefits

The starting pay range for this position is $168,500 - $189,500 per year however, the base pay offered may vary depending on the level of the position, skills, experience, job-related knowledge, and location.
