Job summary

C.W. Driver Companies is seeking an experienced Director of Project Development in San Diego, CA, to lead business development, strategic positioning, and preconstruction efforts.

This role builds client relationships, champions delivery methods, and collaborates with design and operations teams to create winning project strategies. Responsibilities include pursuing opportunities, leading proposals, coordinating with Estimating, BIM, and Scheduling, and representing the firm at industry events,

Qualifications

• 10+ years of commercial construction management experience, including 5+ years in leadership roles.
• Strong preconstruction management experience with developers, owners, GCs, or similar organizations.
• Proven ability to develop client relationships, generate business opportunities, and build market networks.
• Excellent presentation, communication, organization, and writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Identify and pursue new project opportunities through market research, strategic positioning, networking, and relationship development with owners, developers, architects, engineers, and other industry partners.
• Develop and maintain relationships within assigned markets and engage key accounts.
• Lead pursuit strategies for proposals and presentations and coach interview teams.
• Champion alternative delivery methods (design-build, design-assist, IPD, PPP) and translate client goals into practical project strategies.
• Coordinate preconstruction with Estimating, BIM, Scheduling, and Operations to align objectives.
• Represent the company at industry events and strengthen market opportunities.
