Job summary

T.W. Frierson Contractor, Inc. seeks a Project Development Director to lead strategic growth, preconstruction leadership, and key client relationships.

This role drives market pursuits, develops a repeatable preconstruction pipeline, and partners with Business Development and Executive teams on company-wide initiatives. The ideal candidate has a decade of corporate leadership, mastery of complex contracts, and a record of delivering cross-functional programs with strong communication and team

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years in corporate leadership with experience leading P&L of business units.
  • Experience in developing and implementing corporate strategies.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction/contract law with negotiation/conflict resolution strategies.
  • Exceptional organizational, leadership, analytical, decision-making, and communication skills.
  • Strong emphasis on continuous improvement of operational processes.
  • Ability to accept responsibility for personal and team-wide failures.
  • Knowledge of current policies, trends, and technology affecting all business units.

Responsibilities

  • Champion relationships with key partners, clients, architects, and engineers to sustain repeatable projects.
  • Lead the team to develop a benchmarking process for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with operations on fees, financials, staffing, and schedules.
  • Encourage cross-team collaboration for continuous improvement across regional offices.
  • Participate with Business Development and Executive team on strategic initiatives.
  • Investigate and lead win strategies to secure project wins.
  • Guide clients and preconstruction leaders through budget reviews.
  • Lead teams from design to target budget with designers, clients, and trades.
  • Represent TW Frierson in interviews and present proposals to clients.
  • Build and maintain relationships with architects, owners, engineers, subcontractors and clients for business development.
  • Research trends in preconstruction and implement innovative strategies to enhance performance.
  • Set strategic goals for business growth and success for the company.
  • Perform risk assessments for developing projects in due diligence, preconstruction and design.
  • Oversee preconstruction management to ensure materials are complete before turnover to Operations.
  • Participate in team huddles with BD and Preconstruction teams.
  • Understand leading indicators, project controls, and their impact on profitability.
  • Ensure capital allocation supports long- and short-term goals.
  • Lead quarterly strategic planning to promote revenue and growth.
  • Participate in Go/No-Go and WIN sessions with team leads.
  • Represent all TW Frierson companies at industry events.
  • Make key personnel decisions, recruitment and development of new members.
  • Support ESOP growth initiatives.
