Job summary

Aurora Solar is seeking a Director of Strategic Projects to join the Office of the CEO and partner directly with the CEO on high-leverage initiatives. You will manage the board cadence, drive investor communications, and lead strategic projects with cross-functional impact across the company.

You will build investment cases, conduct due diligence on targets, and shape the company’s strategic direction while ensuring clear executive communications and disciplined execution.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience, including a strong foundation at a top-tier management consulting firm (MBB or equivalent) or investment bank, with experience with high-growth technology or SaaS companies.
  • You're a self-starter who thrives in ambiguous environments. You don't need a fully scoped brief to make progress; you create the structure, drive clarity and move initiatives forward.
  • Experience directly supporting senior executives or Boards of Directors through board preparation, shaping strategy, and executing cross-functional initiatives end-to-end.
  • Led or meaningfully contributed to corporate development initiatives, including M&A, partnerships, fundraising, or strategic investments with experience in financial modeling, diligence, and deal execution.
  • Communicate with exceptional clarity and can distill complex, ambiguous situations into concise, actionable materials – whether a one-pager, a board slide, or an All Hands talking-points that bring focus and alignment.
  • You are highly structured and execution-oriented, with the ability to drive complex initiatives from problem through completion. You are a strong writer and storyteller with executive-voice communication.
  • This role requires regular travel (~15%) to Aurora’s San Francisco Bay Area headquarters, customer and partner locations, and industry conference locations as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Own board and investor rhythms, prepare agendas, decks, and CEO updates.
  • Lead corporate development initiatives by sourcing, evaluating, and conducting diligence on M&A targets and strategic partnerships with financial models and recommendations.
  • Shape company strategy by partnering with the CEO and LT on strategic narrative and direction.
  • Manage internal communications with the CEO on All Hands content, executive messaging, and company-wide communications.
  • Run point on high-priority CEO initiatives by translating priorities into structured work streams with clear owners and milestones.
  • Represent the CEO in internal and external discussions, exercising judgment on when to decide, listen, or elevate.
