Job summary

STRS Ohio, a premier retirement system serving Ohio’s educators, seeks a Director of Strategic Communications to join the Executive/ Communications and Public Affairs team. This role leads messaging for members, employers, board members, media and other stakeholders, directing the development and delivery of communications programs.

Under the chief communication officer, you will oversee staff, publications, social media, and strategic campaigns, ensuring accuracy and impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, political science, communications or public relations required.
• At least 10 years’ experience in communications; supervisory experience required.
• Exceptional writing and communication skills with proven accomplishments across publications, speeches, presentations, web, video and social media.

Responsibilities

• Lead communications staff and oversee the development, coordination and delivery of materials and special projects for members, employers, board members, media, and other key stakeholders.
• Plan, direct and facilitate STRS Ohio messaging and communication programs; ensure accuracy, effectiveness and appropriateness.
• Oversee publications development and production; support social media and media relations; coordinate approvals and mailing logistics.
