Job summary

The Institute for Educational Initiatives at the University of Notre Dame invites applications for an Associate or Full Professor in STEM education to serve as director of the Notre Dame Center for STEM Education. This is a full-time 9-month appointment with a concurrent 12-month director role beginning July 1, 2027.

Qualifications

• Distinguished national reputation in STEM education research.
• Strong record of peer-reviewed scholarship and external funding.
• Experience leading collaborative and interdisciplinary research initiatives.
• Demonstrated success mentoring faculty, students, or research staff.
• Leadership experience in academic centers, institutes, or large-scale initiatives is strongly preferred.
• Earned doctorate in a STEM discipline or related field relevant to STEM education.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a nationally recognized STEM education research program.
• Provide strategic leadership for the Notre Dame Center for STEM Education.
• Foster planning and a vibrant intellectual community among faculty, staff, students, and partners.
• Mentor junior faculty, postdoctoral scholars, and research staff.
• Collaborate with program directors to advance ND PACT and the Notre Dame STEM Teaching Fellows.
• Contribute to teaching undergraduate and graduate courses related to STEM education and research methodologies.
