Job summary

Cornell University seeks a Director for the Sample Preparation and Spatial Technologies Facility within the Biotechnology Resource Center (BRC). This leadership role will design and operate a staffed core to support life sciences researchers with advanced sample preparation and spatial omics workflows, integrating with genomics, proteomics, imaging, and bioinformatics cores.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in biology or related life sciences discipline.
• Experience with shared resource facilities and core operations.
• Strong background in molecular biology, genomics workflows, and sequencing.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage complex facilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide scientific and operational leadership for the Sample Preparation and Spatial Technologies Facility.
• Oversee shared laboratory spaces and ensure safe, efficient operation of instrumentation.
• Provide consultation to researchers on experimental design and integration with downstream services.
• Develop and deliver hands‑on training for users in sample preparation and techniques.
• Lead collaborations across core facilities to span multiple technologies.
• Manage cost recovery, budgets, and forecasting for facility usage.
• Prepare reports for advisory boards and leadership.
