Job summary
Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory seeks an experienced Ph.D. or M.D. scientist to serve as Director of the Histology Core Facility in New York.
The role provides strategic and operational leadership for a busy core supporting cancer biology, neuroscience, and spatial biology projects. The Director will manage personnel, optimize workflows, and develop a forward-looking vision to expand digital pathology, multiplex imaging, and integration with spatial biology across the institution.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree in biological sciences (PhD or MD) preferred.
- 3+ years in histology, pathology, or related core facility.
- Experience managing staff within a shared-resource environment.
- Expertise in digital pathology, whole-slide imaging, and image analysis.
- Experience with multiplex imaging and spatial biology workflows.
Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day core facility operations including personnel management.
- Develop and execute a forward-looking strategic vision for growth of the Histology Core.
- Improve workflows to increase throughput and efficiency.
- Collaborate with the Single Cell Biology Core and other facilities on emerging technologies.
- Advise on acquisition, optimization, and maintenance of instrumentation.
