Director, Solutions Architecture

Where you will work:

This position can be remote in NJ, PA, NY, IL, TX, or CA, with travel to the nearest office as needed.

A Day in the Life of the Director, Solutions Architecture:
  1. Lead and develop the vision and strategy for Solutions Architecture to drive complex solution activity and increase revenue.
  2. Collaborate with Sales Engineering, Product teams, and Sales to capture customer requirements and support solutions.
  3. Develop design standards and best practices across sales verticals.
  4. Lead Solutions Architects and Engineers in supporting long-term technical solutions, defining business strategies, standards, and roadmaps.
  5. Support business development strategies and requests.
  6. Develop vendor relationships and connect Astound products with vendor capabilities.
  7. Align with the Advanced Services team to deliver value and seamless customer onboarding.
  8. Establish reporting metrics for sales activity and closed deals.
  9. Work cross-functionally to improve understanding of product offerings and identify gaps.
  10. Demonstrate industry trend expertise in managed services and AI.
  11. Research new technologies and collaborate with industry partners on standards.
  12. Review solutions for system and workflow gaps.
  13. Set clear expectations with teams and customers to ensure accountability.
  14. Promote knowledge sharing within the team.
  15. Communicate product roadmaps, releases, and manage escalations.
  16. Support network operations through design reviews and vendor training.
  17. Support DEI initiatives to foster an inclusive work environment.
  18. Other duties as assigned.
What You Bring to the Table:
  • Leadership experience with architects or senior engineers in complex managed solutions.
  • 8+ years in telecommunications, network design, engineering, or project management.
  • 8+ years in Sales Engineering, Network Engineering, or Architecture.
  • 5+ years in SD-WAN SME or engineering.
  • 3+ years in custom Wi-Fi solutions.
  • Strong industry trend knowledge, especially in Enterprise and Carrier networking.
  • Deep understanding of Cloud, SD-WAN, Wi-Fi, and Networking technologies.
  • Knowledge of voice solutions and UCaaS.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and training development.
  • Financial modeling skills and cost requirement articulation.
  • Proven team development and stakeholder influence skills.
  • Ability to lead teams in delivering complex solutions promptly.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to manage expectations and resolve conflicts.
  • Client relationship skills and understanding customer needs.
  • Knowledge of MSO network architectures and technologies.
  • Ability to translate technical needs for non-technical audiences.
  • Strong business and analytical skills.
Education:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Salary:

$155,000 - $175,000 annually, plus bonus, benefits, and commissions. Actual pay varies based on skills and experience.
