Job summary

University of Washington’s College of Education invites applications for a teaching faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in Secondary Teacher Education with a Summer Quarter 2027 start. The Director of Secondary Teacher Education will lead STEP’s program planning, collaboration with schools, and curriculum initiatives.

Applicants should demonstrate excellence in teaching and service, with a doctorate and urban teaching experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Earned doctorate or foreign equivalent in a relevant field by the date of appointment.
• At least three years of secondary school teaching experience, preferably in an urban context.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses and mentor STEP students.
• Lead STEP program meetings and oversee operations.
• Develop and coordinate STEP curricula and pedagogy.
• Engage in outreach, admissions, and recruitment activities.
• Advise students and provide degree/certification guidance.
• Engage in faculty governance and university service.
