Job Description: Director of Sales & Marketing at The Manhattan at Times Square

Compensation: Yearly

Location: The Manhattan at Times Square, located on Seventh Avenue in Midtown Manhattan, offers 659 oversized guestrooms, including Executive Class accommodations on the 18th floor with modern amenities.

Overview: The hotel, with 680 rooms, is undergoing a renovation and transition into the IHG brand family. Enhancements include a new full-service restaurant and upgraded amenities. The Director of Sales & Marketing will lead revenue strategies for segments including group, transient, and catering, analyze market trends, and oversee sales teams to meet or exceed revenue goals. Responsibilities also include developing marketing plans, managing budgets, and positioning the hotel effectively in the market.

Responsibilities:
  1. Lead and drive top-line revenue for key sales segments.
  2. Analyze market trends, share, and competitive environment.
  3. Develop and implement marketing and sales strategies to position the hotel.
  4. Act as the voice of the customer within the organization.
  5. Utilize data from Smith Travel Research, financial reports, and other hotel reporting tools.
  6. Understand and communicate market demand, supply, and economic factors.
  7. Conduct competitive reviews and SWOT analyses.
  8. Develop strategies to penetrate primary markets.
  9. Manage key accounts and develop segment strategies.
  10. Design sales deployment and market assignments.
  11. Set sales goals aligned with budget and market share targets.
  12. Manage group pace and sales activity schedules.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of sales leadership experience, preferably in hotels.
  • Experience with ownership groups and asset management communication.
  • Proficiency in sales automation (e.g., DELPHI) and PMS systems.
  • Collaborative experience with revenue management teams.
  • Knowledge of market segments, channels, and strategic planning.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and develop a sales team.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
