Job summary

Loyola Marymount University seeks a Manager of Research Computing to lead advanced computing resources supporting research activities. You will collaborate with faculty, researchers, and IT staff to enable innovative use of HPC, data storage, and research software.

Responsibilities include strategic planning, program development, vendor coordination, and budget management, while promoting training and engagement to expand utilization of research computing services.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree (Doctorate preferred) in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years in research computing or related field, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
• Advanced knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS preferred), HPC, AI/ML, data storage, and research software apps.
• Experience in developing strategy and project management/planning.
• Excellent written and oral communication with ability to prepare executive summaries.
• Strong analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide consultation for research computing and technology acquisition.
• Develop and implement strategic plans for computing infrastructure and services.
• Lead program development, guidelines, and evaluative processes.
• Coordinate with ITS for data management, security, and policy adherence.
• Expand faculty usage of computing services and collaborate with leadership.
• Oversee installation, configuration, and maintenance of HPC and storage resources.
• Manage projects from inception to completion within budget.
