Job summary

Loyola Marymount University seeks a Manager of Research Computing to lead development and management of advanced computing resources for research. You will collaborate with faculty, researchers, and IT staff to enable and expand HPC, data storage, and research software usage.

The role requires a Master’s degree (Doctorate preferred) with 5+ years in research computing, including 2+ years in a managerial capacity. Strong communication and analytical skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree (Doctorate preferred) or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in research computing, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
• Advanced knowledge of cloud computing platforms (AWS preferred), HPC systems, AI and ML, data storage solutions, and research software applications.
• Demonstrated experience in the development of strategy and project management and planning.
• Exemplary communication skills (both written and oral) evidenced by background in preparing comprehensive reports and executive summaries incorporating complex, highly technical information.
• Strong analytical skills required with a proven record of problem solving.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and experience communicating and interacting with university faculty.
• Highly developed organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide consultation for research computing, research technology acquisition, policies and processes for faculty usage of research technologies.
• Develop and implement strategic plans for research computing infrastructure and services.
• Plan research program development efforts including initiatives, communications, pilot programs, guidelines, and evaluative processes.
• Participate in ITS planning, policies, and procedures development, and decision-making; conduct user-satisfaction surveys.
