Job summary

Tarsus Pharmaceuticals, based in Irvine, is seeking a Director of Formulation Development to lead oral drug product development across the portfolio. The role oversees external CRO/CMO programs, guides strategy, and ensures scalable, phase-appropriate formulation and process development from preclinical through Phase 3.

Responsibilities include leading a team, setting technical governance, and coordinating with Regulatory CMC, Quality, and Clinical Supply to meet project milestones.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in pharmaceutical development/manufacturing.
• 5+ years of people management.
• Experience directing outsourced formulation development via CROs/CMOs.

Responsibilities

• Lead formulation development for tablets, capsules, and other oral forms.
• Direct external preformulation, formulation, and process development work with CROs/CMOs.
• Oversee CMO selection, technology transfer, scale-up, and GMP manufacturing.
• Develop strategies and governance for external development activities.
• Mentor and develop internal staff and contingent workforce.
• Ensure design and execution align with regulatory CMC expectations.
