Job summary

Johns Hopkins University seeks a Director, Real-Time Information Center (RTIC) to provide strategic leadership for a 365/24/7 operation supporting JHPD, JHU, and JHHS. The role will develop the RTIC plan, hire staff, implement systems, and evolve policies and workflows for long-term modernization and data‑driven policing technologies.

The Director will oversee staffing, performance, and annual budgets, ensure governance and privacy standards, and coordinate with GSOC, HERO, and campus safety

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a related field as listed in the minimum qualifications.
• Additional education may substitute for required experience as allowed by policy.

Responsibilities

• Develop the RTIC vision, mission, and long-term strategy aligned with JHPD and university public safety priorities.
• Oversee staffing plans, recruitment, training, and retention for a high-caliber RTIC workforce.
• Ensure consistent, high-quality service across all shifts and operation periods.
• Manage RTIC technology platforms (VMS, LPR, analytics, dashboards) and drive modernization.
• Represent RTIC in collaboration with university and external partners; coordinate emergency management and incident command.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Safety Administration, Public Safety Leadership, Security Studies, Information Systems, Intelligence Analysis, or another related field

Master’s Degree in Emergency Management, Homeland Security, Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, or Public Safety Technology Innovation
