Job summary

The Division of Public Safety at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign seeks a Real-Time Information Center Specialist to join the RTIC team. This role focuses on collecting, analyzing, and distributing information to support patrols, investigations, and event planning.

You will operate CAD and other security software, ensure data confidentiality, troubleshoot camera systems, and provide timely reports and recommendations to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One year of IT-related work experience; college IT coursework may substitute per policy.
• Experience in law enforcement, emergency services, intelligence analysis, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Perform open source and restricted queries using specialized criminal justice databases to support patrol, investigations, and real-time operations.
• Collect, store, analyze and distribute information using analytical tools and methodologies.
• Prepare clear, concise, data-driven reports including police reports for university stakeholders.
• Protect data confidentiality and integrity by enforcing information security policies.
• Troubleshoot and maintain public safety technology, including camera systems and fusion center software.
• Monitor CAD screens and provide real-time information to responders and investigators.
• Provide access control information during emergencies and assist the Detective Bureau and Patrol Divisions.
• Apply criminal justice principles and communicate university policies related to crime analysis and safety operations.
