Job summary

Johnson & Johnson is seeking a Director for R&D Strategic Business Operations to lead optimization projects within global R&D, based in Raritan, NJ or Spring House, PA. The role requires strong project management, strategic thinking, and cross-functional leadership to transform R&D operations and reduce development costs.

You will drive portfolio management, stakeholder alignment, and change management across Innovative Medicine R&D, aiming for cost efficiency and operational excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Advanced degree preferred.
• 10+ years in PM/leadership in pharmaceutical R&D.
• Experience in contracting and/or procurement.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
• Strong influencing skills with cross-functional relationships.
• Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset.
• Ability to navigate complex business decisions.
• Experience leading people in a matrix organization.
• Willingness to travel up to 10% domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Lead process optimization and business transformation across Innovative Medicine R&D.
• Develop operational strategies to improve efficiency and cost-saving.
• Manage project portfolios, budgets, resources, timelines, and KPIs.
• Build partnerships with internal/external stakeholders for alignment.
• Lead change management and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Drive contract simplification with Legal, Procurement, GSINC.
• Lead and develop teams in a matrix environment.
• Support seamless integration with GSINC.
• Interface with Legal and Procurement.
• Manage all contract simplification initiatives.
