Job summary

Studio in a School seeks an experienced Director, Public Programs to lead external facing, large-scale programs, events, and exhibitions in New York City. The role reports to the Chief Program Officer and oversees budget, staff, and multi-department collaboration.

The Director will manage planning, production timelines, vendor coordination, and guest experiences for a diverse slate of public programs, with a focus on organizational milestones and the Studio Symposium initiative.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 3–5 years experience in event planning/production or public programs.
  • Experience in arts, culture, nonprofit sectors preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; Salesforce experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and steward Studio's public programs, events, and exhibitions.
  • Plan and produce an annual slate of 6–12 programs and events.
  • Own end-to-end event lifecycle from concept to post-event follow-up.
  • Draft and manage departmental budgets and contracts with vendors.
  • Supervise at least one direct report and collaborate across departments.
