Job summary

AeroVironment is seeking a Director of Program Management to lead a team of 5–8 program managers, guiding scheduling, pricing, and technical performance of programs. You will shape proposals, negotiate contracts, ensure compliance, and support business development while driving on-time, on-budget delivery of UAS projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering/Computer Science or related field required or equivalent
• Minimum 7–10 years of directly related program management experience
• Minimum 5–7 years' people management of Project and Program Managers
• Experience leading a major function or product area
• Advanced degree preferred

Responsibilities

• Formulates and executes long‑term master plans and schedules in the support of UAS design and development
• Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure efficient operation of the PMO
• Typically lead a team size of 5 to 8 Program/Project Managers
• Develops, defines and executes project plans, schedules, budgets and deliverables
• Monitors the product/program/project from initiation through delivery and interfaces with customers and field staff
• Assigns and monitors work of PM staff, providing leadership and direction
• Consult or negotiate with clients to prepare project specifications
• Prepare budgets, bids, or contracts
• Supports assessment of project feasibility by analyzing technology, resources, or market demand
• Support development and implementation of PM policies, standards, or procedures
• Review, recommend, or approve contracts or cost estimates
• Direct recruitment, placement, and evaluation of engineering project staff
• Other duties as assigned
