Job summary

Airwallex in the United States is seeking a Senior Product Legal Counsel to lead the legal support for Embedded Finance, Lending, Issuing, and Payments for Platforms. You will partner with Product, Sales, Risk, and Engineering to shape regulatory strategy and draft critical terms for cross-border platforms.

You’ll manage the U.S. Embedded Finance portfolio, mentor junior lawyers, and build scalable playbooks while navigating complex regulatory regimes across the U.S.

Qualifications

• J.D. or equivalent law degree and active U.S. bar membership
• 10+ years of legal experience in payments/fintech/regulatory industry
• Deep expertise in U.S. payments and financial services regulation (money transmission, AML/BSA, Reg E, UDAAP)
• Strong ability to advise Product and Engineering from ideation through launch
• Experience structuring and negotiating complex agreements with banks, processors, or networks
• Strong drafting skills for partnerships, platform terms, and consumer documentation
• Ability to translate complex regulatory matters into practical business guidance
• Experience leading, mentoring, or developing lawyers
• Collaborative and commercially minded cross-functional partnering with Sales, Product, Risk, Compliance, Eng.

Responsibilities

• Lead the product-legal team for Embedded Finance, Lending, Issuing, and Payments for Platforms, with two direct reports
• Structure novel Embedded Finance and Lending models for enterprise customers
• Provide practical, risk-weighted guidance on U.S. and international payments laws
• Advise Product and Engineering from ideation to go-to-market readiness
• Draft, review, and negotiate financial partnership agreements and platform terms
• Build scalable legal playbooks and reference materials to speed deals
• Coordinate with Regulatory Legal, Data & Privacy, Risk, and Licensing teams on launches
• Serve as the U.S.-based point person for Embedded Finance and Lending portfolios
• Support launches across markets and regulatory exams
