Airwallex is seeking a Regulatory Counsel to support regulatory matters across the Americas, focusing on payments, licensing, and cross‑border product offerings. The role offers mentorship within a fast‑moving fintech environment.

You will advise on licensing, product initiatives, and regulatory mapping, growing expertise in US payment regulation and money‑transmitter licensing, in a hybrid setup based in SF or NYC.

Qualifications

• Qualified lawyer with 5+ years post‑qualification experience.
• Experience in‑house, private practice or at a financial institution.
• Exposure to payments, money transmission, e‑money, FX, remittances, card issuing.
• Understanding of US financial‑services regulatory environment.
• Ability to research complex questions and translate findings into practical advice.
• Strong written and verbal communication, collaboration and stakeholder skills.
• Proactive, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced fintech setting.

Responsibilities

• Support regulatory legal matters across the Americas, incl. licensing and registrations.
• Summarize developments in payments and financial services regulation and impacts.
• Collaborate with Product Legal, Regulatory Compliance, Risk and Financial Crime teams.
• Assist with regulatory filings, submissions, and responses in the Americas.
• Provide clear risk assessments and practical guidance to cross‑functional stakeholders.
• Manage external counsel and track costs and deliverables.
• Contribute to government relations and policy work and AI tooling adoption.
