Job summary

Airwallex seeks a Regulatory Counsel to support the Americas region, advising on payments and financial services regulations, licensing, and cross-border offerings. You will collaborate with Regulatory Compliance, Product Legal, and other control functions while supporting filings and risk assessments.

This remote role is based in the US and offers opportunities to shape regulatory strategy across markets and to leverage AI tools to enhance legal workflows.

Qualifications

• Qualified lawyer with 5+ years post-qualification experience.
• Regulatory, financial-services or fintech experience (in-house, private practice or at a financial institution).
• Exposure to payments, money transmission, e-money, FX or related areas.
• Strong understanding of US financial-services regulation and licensing.
• Ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into practical guidance.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to manage stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Support regulatory legal matters across the Americas region, including licensing and registrations.
• Research developments in payments regulation and summarize potential business impacts.
• Collaborate with Product Legal, Regulatory Compliance, Risk and FCA teams on licensing and product questions.
• Assist with regulatory filings, submissions and responses in relevant jurisdictions.
• Provide clear risk assessments and legal guidance to cross-functional teams.
• Manage external counsel and track deliverables and costs.
• Leverage AI tools to improve regulatory workflows and efficiency.
