Abacus Group in Manhattan, NY seeks a Director- Private Client Group to lead tax planning and compliance for high-net-worth individuals, trusts, estates and pass-through entities. You will oversee complex engagements, mentor managers, collaborate with external advisors, and stay abreast of tax law changes to guide clients and teams.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive public accounting experience.
• Strong experience with high-net-worth taxation.
• Demonstrated experience with individual, trust, estate, and partnership tax matters.
• Prior experience supervising teams and reviewing complex tax work.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build credibility with clients and colleagues.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
• CPA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Act as a primary advisor to high-net-worth clients, delivering thoughtful tax planning and compliance solutions across individual, trust, estate, and pass-through entity matters.
• Oversee complex tax engagements from planning through execution, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to firm standards.
• Review advanced individual, fiduciary, and partnership tax returns and related deliverables.
• Partner with clients’ external advisors to address multi-dimensional tax and wealth considerations.
• Lead, mentor, and develop Managers and Senior Managers, providing coaching, technical guidance, and performance feedback.
• Support Partners in strengthening long-term client relationships and identifying opportunities to expand services.
• Monitor changes in tax legislation and translate developments into practical guidance for clients and internal teams.
