Abacus Group is seeking a Tax Manager for its Private Client Group in Manhattan, NY. You will cultivate relationships with high-net-worth clients and oversee complex tax filings for individuals, trusts, estates, and related entities.

You will deliver tailored tax planning, explain complex concepts clearly, and mentor junior staff while staying updated on changing tax laws and regulatory trends. This role offers a hybrid work arrangement in a client-facing, fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in tax consulting.
• Experience with HNW clients.
• Strong knowledge of tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Excellent leadership skills.
• CPA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with high-net-worth clients.
• Examine complex tax filings for individuals, trusts, family investment partnerships, private foundations, estates, and gift taxes.
• Assess clients’ financial goals, assets, and investment portfolios.
• Deliver personalized tax planning and advisory services tailored to individual client needs.
• Explain complex tax concepts in a clear and understandable manner to clients.
• Analyze clients’ financial situations to identify tax planning opportunities.
• Design and implement tax-efficient strategies to minimize clients’ tax liabilities.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax laws and regulations.
• Guide and mentor junior tax staff.
• Train, support, and review the work of team members to ensure accuracy and compliance with tax laws.
• Monitor changes in tax laws, regulations, and industry trends.
• Research specific tax issues and provide recommendations to clients.
• Evaluate tax implications of various financial decisions, including investments and estate planning.
