Job summary

Sentry is seeking an experienced Director of Engineering, Platform (Runtime & Stateful Systems) to own the runtime and stateful systems powering Seer and related products. You will lead multiple engineering teams and staff engineers, setting the technical vision across these critical platforms, driving major architectural changes, and shaping organizational growth.

This hybrid role is based in the San Francisco Bay Area with three days per week in the SF office, and offers a competitive base

Qualifications

• 12+ years in backend, platform, or infrastructure engineering.
• Director-level engineering management or equivalent experience.
• Deep expertise in OLTP/OLAP databases, real-time compute, storage, or caching.
• Proven track record leading cross-functional initiatives from strategy to execution.
• Strong communication and leadership to align teams around a strategy.
• Experience operating mission-critical infrastructure with reliability, scalability, and performance.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple engineering teams and staff engineers responsible for runtime and stateful systems powering Sentry products.
• Set technical vision and strategy across multiple systems as the business scales.
• Drive architectural changes and engineering initiatives with tradeoffs on scalability, reliability, performance, cost, and complexity.
• Provide technical leadership across teams and evaluate architectural decisions with senior engineers.
• Own execution and operational excellence of mission-critical systems, ensuring reliability and high performance.
• Build and develop a strong engineering organization, including hiring, mentoring, and growing managers/leaders.
• Foster a culture of engineering excellence and continuous improvement.
• Partner across Platform, Infrastructure, and Product to align priorities and deliver cross-functional initiatives.
• Anticipate evolving product and infrastructure needs to build new platform capabilities.
