Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking a Director of Pharmacy-Centralized Compounding to lead strategic vision and governance for centralized compounding services across the system.

The role requires hospital pharmacy leadership experience, Indiana Pharmacist licensure, and knowledge of USP-NF and cGMP principles to improve efficiency, safety and compliance. This executive will drive growth and integration with other delivery systems.

Qualifications

• Requires PharmD or BS in Pharmacy prior to 2006, plus at least 3 years of hospital pharmacy practice.
• Must be licensed as a Pharmacist in Indiana or eligible for licensure.
• Knowledge of USP-NF, including USP <795>, <797>, and <800> strongly preferred.
• 7-10 years of relevant experience in hospital health systems.
• Progressive leadership in hospitals or large-scale compounding operations preferred.
• BCSCP certification preferred; cGMP experience desirable.
• Graduate degree in business/health administration/quality preferred.

Responsibilities

• Establish long-range vision, priorities, governance and growth roadmap for centralized compounding.
• Provide administrative leadership and align services across the health system.
• Oversee fiscal, clinical and operational performance improvement initiatives.

The Director-Pharmacy, Centralized Compounding is responsible for establishing the long-range vision, priorities, governance, and growth roadmap for centralized pharmaceutical compounding services at IU Health. This is a systemwide role that also serves as a point of expertise for compounding sterile, non-sterile, and hazardous pharmaceutical products. This leader provides administrative decision-making, leadership and strategic planning including the efficient and productive use of personnel, material and financial resources.

This director is also responsible for the efficient and purposeful integration of services with other areas and emerging delivery systems. This leader manages ongoing analysis, development and implementation of methods and systems to improve overall efficiency and effectiveness of services and functions. The director formulates proactive action plans in collaboration with system goals. Executes plans, with and through others, integrating the efforts of various components/entities of the system. The leader ensures fiscal responsibility and clinical and operational performance improvement initiatives of the service line.

Candidate Qualifications

Candidates for the position will be evaluated according to the following criteria and competencies.

• Requires Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor's of Science in Pharmacy prior to 2006, plus at least 3 years of experience in hospital pharmacy practice required.
• Must be licensed as a Pharmacist in Indiana or eligible for licensure.
• Requires knowledge of the accepted practices, procedures, regulations, and techniques applicable to the practice of Pharmacy.
• 7-10 years of relevant experience is required.
• Progressive leadership in hospitals, health-system, centralized, or large-scale compounding operations strongly preferred.
• Deep knowledge of USP-NF, including USP <795>, <797>, and <800> strongly preferred.
• Board Certified Sterile Compounding Pharmacist (BCSCP) preferred.
• Experience with cGMP principles and applying manufacturing-style concepts within a 503A health-system environment preferred.
• Graduate degree in business, health administration, pharmaceutical sciences, quality, or related field preferred
