Job summary

Lifespan's Rhode Island Hospital system seeks a Director of Perianesthesia Care Services to lead the integration of Pre-Admission Testing, Hold & Prep, and PACU across RI Hospital facilities.

The role develops clinical pathways, enhances patient flow, supports staff development, and drives quality and safety in perioperative care. This senior leader collaborates with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing leaders to improve outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university.
• Master's degree in nursing or a related field such as healthcare administration.
• RN licensure in Rhode Island or equivalent licensure under license compacts.
• American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications; CNOR/CPAN/CAPA or NE-BC/CENP are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for PAT, Hold & Prep, and PACU departments.
• Supervise and develop clinical managers, nurses, and staff across departments.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and hospital policies.
• Develop standardized clinical pathways for perioperative care.
• Coordinate pre-admission testing, anesthesia handoff, and post-op recovery.
• Improve patient flow, reduce delays, and enhance safety and outcomes.
• Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, and teams to optimize care.
