Job summary

Vast, headquartered in Long Beach, CA, is seeking a Director, People Business Partners to lead the PBP team and partner with executive leaders across multiple sites including California, Houston, DC, Japan, and France. This full-time, exempt role focuses on organizational design, workforce planning, talent management, and change leadership during a period of rapid growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in HR management, business, or related field.
• 12+ years HR experience, including 6+ years in a BP capacity.
• 5+ years directly managing and developing a team of HRBPs.
• Experience partnering with executives on organizational design and workforce planning.
• Experience in a start-up or fast-growth hardware/manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of California wage & hour and employment law.
• Exceptional judgment, discretion, and ability to influence at all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Develop and own the People Business Partner strategy and multi-year operating model for the team.
• Lead, develop, and inspire the People Business Partner team, setting clear priorities, coaching for impact, and building capability and career growth.
• Serve as a strategic advisor to Vast's executive leaders on organizational design, workforce planning, leadership effectiveness, talent management, and change leadership.
• Define and continuously improve the People Business Partner operating model and engagement with Centers of Excellence.
• Drive alignment and successful execution of company-wide people programs through the PBP team.
• Translate business strategy into people strategy across sites and geographies.
• Design coverage and practices that work across California, Houston, DC, Japan, and France; collaborate with Legal and People Ops.
• Support evolution into a multi-product company with Haven, Vast Satellite, and future lines.
• Coach leaders to build high-performing, inclusive teams and deliver meaningful feedback.
• Champion employee engagement using surveys and frontline feedback to shape action plans.
• Leverage people analytics to inform decisions and tell a clear leadership story.
• Partner with Legal and Employee Relations for compliant, fair practices across a multi-site workforce.
• Build scalable HR workflows and processes to match business growth.
• Model and reinforce Vast's cultural values in all interactions.
