Job summary

Optum is seeking a Director, Behavioral Health Payer Value Creation to lead the payer affordability portfolio. You will translate enterprise value strategy into a disciplined set of initiatives that improve cost efficiency, outcomes, and customer value across clinical, network, and finance teams.

In this senior role you will build business cases, partner with analytics, establish governance, and drive execution in a complex matrixed environment.

Qualifications

• 12+ years in healthcare, managed care, consulting, strategy, operations, affordability, value creation or related field.
• 10+ years leading complex, cross-functional initiatives with accountability for strategy, execution and measurable outcomes.
• Experience identifying cost or performance improvement opportunities and turning them into executable initiatives.
• Experience working across multiple functions such as clinical, network, payment integrity, finance, analytics, product, operations or client management.
• Proven executive presence, including ability to communicate complex topics clearly to senior audiences.
• Proven track record moving work from concept to implementation and sustaining accountability through delivery.

Responsibilities

• Own the payer value creation and affordability agenda, with priorities, roadmaps and performance expectations.
• Identify and assess trends; translate insights into actions that reduce cost and improve outcomes.
• Build and manage a portfolio of payer affordability initiatives across clinical, network, payment integrity, benefits integrity, product and operations.
• Lead initiatives from opportunity through design, approval, implementation, adoption, measurement and validation.
• Develop rigorous business cases and value models; collaborate with Finance and analytics to validate impact.
