Job summary

McLaren Health Care's MAC Nursing Admin department seeks an experienced nursing leader to oversee external and internal contracts, and to drive short- and long-range strategic planning, policy development and monitoring to improve nursing care.

The role collaborates with nursing managers to develop, implement and monitor supply, capital and FTE budgets, supports recruitment and retention of nursing personnel, and serves on medical staff and nursing staff committees as a representative or advisor.

Qualifications

  • Masters’ degree in Nursing, Business Administration or related field within two years of hire.
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.
  • Minimum of five years acute care nursing experience.
  • Progressive management experience with strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, directs, controls and evaluates patient care nursing operations in collaboration with the CNO.
  • Promotes integration of services with other hospital divisions and departments.
  • Creates and maintains correspondence, records and reports associated with the role.
  • Acts as liaison to the CNO, managers, physicians, patients and families, and external stakeholders.
  • Interacts with physicians to obtain feedback and plan for future needs.
  • Assumes 24/7 accountability for areas of responsibility.
  • Conducts rounds to areas of responsibility.

Job description

Dept: MAC Nursing Admin Responsible for external and internal contracts for short-term and long-range strategic planning, resolution of issues to enhance the development and quality of nursing care and developing and monitoring policies and procedures. Assists nursing managers with the development, implementation and monitoring of supply, capital and FTE budgets. Collaborates with Human Resources and nursing managers in the recruitment and retention of nursing personnel. Serves on medical staff committees and nursing staff committees as a nursing representative or advisor.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Plans, directs, controls and evaluates patient care nursing operations in collaboration with the Chief Nursing Officer. Develops and recommends short- and long-term strategic plans and methods for achieving goals. Assists in establishing standards of performance, quality assurance and control, and patient care delivery.
  • Serves as a resource and representative by assisting with the planning of cooperative projects with other hospital departments and community agencies. Promotes integration of services with other hospital divisions.
  • Creates and maintains correspondence, records, reports, and other documentation related to the work.
  • Acts as a liaison/resource to Chief Nursing Officer when working with managers, all levels of nursing staff and other disciplines, physicians, patients and families, schools of nursing, architects, contractors, vendors, professional organizations, clergy and the media.
  • Interacts on a regular basis with physicians to obtain feedback, resolve issues or plan for future needs.
  • Assumes 24-hour accountability, 7 days per week for areas of responsibility.
  • Conducts rounds to areas of responsibility.
Required:
  • Masters’ Degree in Nursing, Business Administration or related field within two years of hire date.
    • If Masters is not obtained in Nursing, must have a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
  • Must be licensed as Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.
  • Minimum of five years acute care nursing experience required.
  • Progressive management experience required, with proven interpersonal and communication skills.
Preferred:
  • A merican Heart Association BLS certification as Healthcare Provider or equivalent through the Military Training Network (MTN) Equal Opportunity Employer of Minorities/Females/Disabled/Veterans.
