Job summary

Great Basin College in Pahrump, NV seeks a capable administrator to supervise the Pahrump Valley Center and satellite centers, ensuring daily operations and in-person presence from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Travel to Elko and other sites is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Experience in organizational/administrative roles, preferably in education.
  • Community college experience is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills are essential.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for public-facing duties.
  • Ability to interpret instructions and coordinate between departments.
  • Familiarity with distance education delivery technologies.
  • Willingness to travel frequently within the service area.
  • Familiarity with advising college-level students preferred.
  • Familiarity with an integrated student information system preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of the Pahrump Valley Center and satellites.
  • This requires a daily presence at the Center from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or longer as needed.
  • Some weekend and evening work will be required.
  • Select, train, and supervise staff for the centers in Pahrump and nearby areas.
  • Regular travel to satellite centers; overnight stays may be required.
  • Participate in faculty and staff development activities for the Center and satellites.
  • Plan and manage the Center budget with the VP of Finance and Operations.
  • Supervise Center support staff and oversee facilities maintenance.
  • Coordinate student support services, registration, financial aid, advisement, and SGA.
  • Promote course offerings, programs and services within local communities.
  • Coordinate joint initiatives with local school districts.
  • Collaborate with Continuing Education to develop community offerings.
  • Promote business partnerships and contract training.
  • Participate in economic development committees.
  • Participate in college meetings to facilitate inter-campus communications.
  • Participate in faculty senate and other college committees.
  • Collaborate with the GBC Foundation to develop resources for the area.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Description

The individual selected for this position will supervise the educational services and facilities of Great Basin College (GBC) in Nye County, Nevada, including the daily operations of a center in Pahrump and other rural satellite centers. This will include the supervision of non-academic faculty employees at the GBC centers in this region. The position, which is based in Pahrump, Nevada, requires occasional travel to the Elko campus and other areas for meetings.



Qualifications


  • A Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required.

  • Evidence of previous organizational and administrative experience, preferably in an educational setting, is required.

  • Previous experience in a community college setting will be an asset to the applicant.

  • Communication skills are essential to the position.

  • Microsoft Office and general computer skills are required to perform the duties of this position successfully.

  • Strong human relation skills are required due to the public scope of this position.

  • The Campus Director must be able to understand and interpret instructions, bringing work complete in one department to another.

  • Familiarity with distance education delivery technologies is required.

  • Willingness to travel frequently throughout the service area is required.

  • Familiarity with advising college level students is preferred.

  • Familiarity with an integrated student information system is preferred.



Responsibilities


  • Oversee and supervise daily operations of the Pahrump Valley Center and satellite centers in the surrounding areas.

  • This will require a daily presence at the Center from at least 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each workday or longer if necessary to complete all responsibilities for the day.

  • Some weekend and evening work will be required.

  • In cooperation with other GBC administrators, select, train, and supervise the staff for the centers in Pahrump and surrounding areas.

  • This includes travel to the satellite centers on a regular basis, sometimes with overnight stay required.

  • In cooperation with other GBC staff, participate in faculty and staff development activities for the Pahrump Valley Center and satellite centers in the area.

  • Plan and manage the Center budget in conjunction with the Vice President of Finance and Operations.

  • Supervise Center support staff.

  • Oversee janitorial services and buildings and grounds maintenance and repair.

  • In cooperation with Student Services staff, plan and direct student support services, registration, including coordination of financial aid, academic advisement, and SGA activities for the Center and the satellite centers in the area.

  • Promote course offerings, college programs and services within the communities of the counties.

  • Promote and coordinate joint initiatives with the local school districts.

  • Work with the Director of Continuing Education to explore for and develop opportunities in the area for community service offerings and other means of community outreach and continuing education.

  • Promote business partnerships and contract training.

  • Participation on economic development committees within the area is expected.

  • Participate in college meetings to facilitate inter-campus and inter-departmental communications.

  • Participate in faculty senate and other college committees as appropriate.

  • Collaborate with the GBC Foundation to develop Pahrump and surrounding area resources as requested.

  • Other duties as assigned.



Compensation

Grade Administrative Faculty – D This is a 12 month \"A\" contract position, 12 month contracts are used for year round programs. The budgeted salary range for this position begins at $86,445. Salary is based on relatable education and experience, internal equity and budgets.
