Cardinal Health is seeking a Director of Transportation – First/Middle Mile to provide centralized leadership for U.S. transportation across manufacturing sites, replenishment centers, and cross docks.

You will oversee a sizable budget and collaborate with carrier partners to drive efficiency and service improvements. The role requires a strategic leader with strong analytics, contract negotiation, and cross-functional collaboration skills to advance network performance and policy governance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
• 12+ years of progressive transportation and logistics experience, with 5+ years in a leadership role overseeing multi-site operations.
• Experience managing large transportation budgets (e.g., $100M+) and delivering cost savings.
• Proven carrier management, contract negotiation, and relationship-building expertise.
• Strong analytical skills to evaluate metrics, data, and drive improvements.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for all U.S. first and middle mile transportation operations across sites.
• Lead and mentor a team of ~20 transportation professionals.
• Own and manage a transportation budget of approximately $200M.
• Drive network optimization initiatives focused on routing efficiency and cost-to-serve reduction.
• Ensure transportation excellence across the national distribution and manufacturing network.
• Lead transportation procurement activities including carrier sourcing, RFPs, and vendor management.
• Manage relationships with 100+ carrier partners for performance and compliance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize network flow and strategy.
• Establish and enforce transportation policies and governance standards.
• Oversee onboarding, transitions, and carrier integrations.
