Job summary

Tulsa County is seeking a Director of Development Services to lead the Planning and Development Services Department. The role directs operations, staff, and programs and provides strategic planning, budgeting, and legislative liaison on planning matters.

The Director works with municipalities, boards, and partner agencies to ensure compliant development, effective permitting, and sound land-use decisions in alignment with county goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in urban/regional planning or related field.
• 5–10 years progressive planning or development services experience.
• 3+ years in management or supervisory role.
• AICP certification preferred; PE license preferred.
• Strong knowledge of zoning, land use, and planning processes.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, direct, and evaluate department operations.
• Prepare planning documents and reports for boards.
• Guide municipalities on plan updates aligning with county goals.
• Oversee budgets and staffing levels; manage resources.
• Ensure compliance with codes and regulations.
• Represent department before officials and the public.
