Job summary

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks a DIRECTOR-ACADEMIC SERVICES to oversee the complete operation of academic services: program creation; grant writing and renewal each year; budget development, analysis, accountability; hiring, training, supervising, evaluating all staff; development of programs and policies in coordination with academic affairs.

The role also evaluates programs for internal and federal review, tracks participants, and provides regular reports to the Associate

Qualifications

• Master's degree is required and four years of related experience.
• Work experience may not substitute for education requirement.
• Experience overseeing academic programs and staff is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides philosophical and operational direction to Academic Services, which includes counseling, academic advising, tutoring and teaching remedial courses.
• Develops and oversees department budget; analyzes expenditures relative to federal guidelines; signs budget expenditures.
• Oversees personnel functions and supervises staff and contractors.
• Writes the program’s federal grant proposal each year with proper documentation.
• Ensures participants meet federal eligibility and manages grant areas.
• Maintains financial aid oversight and prepares regular federal reports.
• Evaluates programs and services; handles PR and advertising; performs other duties as assigned.
