Isaacs Neighborhood Center (Isaacs Center) are well-established Manhattan community-based agencies that support services to approximately 30,000 New Yorkers. We are two of New York City’s leading human services organizations meeting the needs of children, youth and families, homeless individuals, and older adults through-out Manhattan and New York City. The Isaacs Center focuses primarily on the needs of children and low-income families, out-of-school and out-of-work youth, and aging New Yorkers. Program Description:Goddard Riverside Community Center (Goddard Riverside) and the Stanley M. Position Summary:The Director of Training and Professional Development is a key leader within the HR Department, responsible for spearheading the design, implementation, and management of comprehensive organizational and professional development initiatives. This position will be directly responsible for designing and coordinating an organization-wide onboarding program and working with internal and external contributors to design and implement professional development trainings for existing staff as part of a Goddard Riverside Training Institute. This role requires strategic vision, innovation, and a commitment to fostering professional growth and development across the organization. The Director will oversee the development of both live and asynchronous learning modules to accommodate diverse learning styles and schedules and will participate as a trainer for a portion of the learning module. Schedule: Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:00pm

Salary Range: $92,000 – $103,000

Candidates must have the required qualifications to be considered for the position. The salary offer will be based on the candidate’s number of years experience in the exact or comparable position and additional preferred qualifications will be taken into account.

Onboarding Program Coordination

  • Work with leadership and key staff within the organization and consultants to develop, maintain and coordinate an organization-wide onboarding program to ensure seamless integration of new employees into the organization.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders, department heads and HR to create onboarding materials, including live sessions, e-learning modules, and resources.
  • Coordinate onboarding schedules, facilitate and present at new hire orientation sessions
  • Work with department leaders to create mentorship opportunities to facilitate a positive and productive transition for new hires.

Training Institute

  • Working with the Performance Improvement and Innovation department and leadership across the organization to design and coordinate internal professional development trainings as part of a Goddard Riverside Training Institute, aimed at cultivating leadership and management skills, individual contributor skills, and administrative skills, and fostering professional growth among staff members at all levels.
  • Drive development, delivery and program administration of various dynamic training and development programs comprising live workshops, asynchronous learning modules, peer learning groups, and mentorship opportunities.
  • Identify and engage internal and external facilitators, industry experts, and thought leaders to contribute to training curriculum and programming

Live and Asynchronous Learning Module Development

  • Work with leadership across the organization to create engaging live training sessions and workshops that leverage interactive activities, case studies, and group discussions to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Develop asynchronous learning modules, including e-learning courses, webinars, videos, and self-paced activities, to accommodate diverse learning styles and schedules.
  • Ensure that learning content is current, relevant, and aligned with best practices in adult learning theory and instructional design.

Evaluation and Continuous Improvement

  • Establish evaluation criteria and feedback mechanisms to assess the effectiveness of the agencywide onboarding system, the Training Institute, and other training programs.
  • Gather input from participants, supervisors, and stakeholders to identify areas for improvement and innovation.
  • Use data analytics and feedback to refine training content, delivery methods, and program structures to optimize impact and engagement.

Collaboration and Partnership

  • Collaborate closely with the HR team, department heads, and senior leadership to align training and development initiatives with organizational goals and strategic priorities.
  • Cultivate partnerships with relevant membership organizations (e.g. United Neighborhood Houses) and subject matter experts to coordinate training offerings and access to resources.
  • Coordinate internship opportunities with local educational institutions, such as social work interns (including the One Year Residency program with Hunter College) and CUNY undergraduate interns.
  • Develop and coordinate an agencywide process for Licensed Masters Social Workers (LMSW) to obtain their clinical licensure by pairing them with current Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW) to get their supervision hours.

Budget Development and Management

  • Work with the Chief Human Resource Officer to develop and manage a training and development budget, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently and effectively to support program goals.
  • Prepare proposals and reports related to training and professional development initiatives, demonstrating impact and outcomes to funders and stakeholders.

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 3+ years of experience in designing and implementing training programs, preferably in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization
  • Proven success in designing and executing successful training curriculums to meet targeted and untargeted needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and translate strategy into actionable training plans.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to coordinate and collaborate with affinity groups
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies, and technology-enabled learning solutions.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with experience integrating DEI principles into training initiatives.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and leaders.
  • Familiarity with nonprofit operations, governance structures, and funding mechanisms is desirable
  • Passion for the mission and values of the organization, with a desire to contribute to positive social change through education and capacity building

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have/be:

  • Technical knowledge of LMS systems
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite, especially Word, and PowerPoint
