This role is part of RS Americas corporate team, in support of a location that receives, stores and maintains 275,000 stocked products, and processes and dispatches all customer orders that originate in North America.

About The Role

Role Purpose

This individual will work with various stakeholders across the business to monitor and respond to Vendor Assessments, Security Audits and Questionnaires, drive and manage SOC / ISO certification and ensure industry best practices related to security principles are followed. The role also involves tracking compliance requests, ensuring adherence to protocols like Privacy, GDPR, HIPAA / HiTrust, and updating the Executive Leadership team on progress, risks, and mitigation plans. Reporting to the Senior Director, Operations, the Director of Trade Compliance will oversee import/export compliance according to US and international regulations, support license acquisition, and liaise with government agencies and customs brokers.

This person must possess excellent business partnering skills, influence leaders, and support strategic growth through data-driven improvements.

Responsibilities

1. Manage compliance questionnaires and audits, address control gaps.
2. Oversee compliance programs, policies, and processes.
3. Conduct internal audits, data mapping, and gap assessments.
4. Evaluate controls to SOC standards.
5. Manage vendor security evaluations and risk assessments.
6. Develop training, procedures, and documentation.
7. Understand US and global compliance/privacy initiatives (e.g., GDPR, CPRA).
8. Implement new security and compliance policies.
9. Evaluate disaster recovery programs for security incidents.
10. Stay updated with external regulations and best practices to improve internal policies.

Candidate Requirements

1. Strong knowledge of ITAR, EAR, CBP regulations, sanctions, and trade statistics.
2. Experience with licensing and classification (USML, CCL, Schedule B, HTS).
3. Experience interacting with government trade compliance authorities.
4. Knowledge of customs processes and regulations.
5. Results-oriented with excellent communication skills, diplomatic and discreet.
6. Leadership experience in high-performing teams.
7. Compliance leadership in relevant industries (tech, manufacturing, aerospace).
8. Experience with M&A due diligence.
