As they expand our next-generation software and AI capabilities, they are seeking a technical accounting leader to guide their capital deployment and emerging tech accounting strategies.
The Director of Capital and Emerging Technology Accounting will serve as the primary authority on software capitalization, cloud computing arrangements, and next-generation tech governance. This hybrid role bridges technical accounting policy with engineering execution, ensuring that product roadmaps align seamlessly with US GAAP.
Education & Credentials: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance; active CPA required.
Experience: 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 years in technical accounting or policy roles (ideally within tech, SaaS, or FinTech).
Technical Mastery: Deep expertise in ASC 350-40 (Internal-Use Software) and ASU 2018-15 (Cloud Computing Arrangements) within technology-driven organizations.
Communication: Proven ability to translate complex accounting standards into clear, actionable frameworks for engineering, product, and finance teams.
Documentation: Extensive track record drafting audit-ready technical memos, corporate policies, and formal internal controls.
Public accounting background (Big 4 preferred) with tech sector exposure.
Familiarity with modern agile project tracking tools, enterprise Cloud ERPs, and data analytics architectures.
Working knowledge of evolving GAAP standards impacting technology and digital assets.
Understanding of AI/ML development lifecycles and engineering metrics for credible cost classification.
