Job summary

St. Michael's Prep in Austin, TX is seeking a Director of Student Wellness to join the administrative team. The role leads the Upper School counseling and wellness program, shaping a proactive, celebratory culture of balance across academics, faith, and activities.

This is a full-time, 12-month position reporting to the Head of Upper School. The Director will collaborate across divisions, coordinate with the Health Office, and guide programming grounded in Catholic Social Teaching to support

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Counseling, School Psychology, Social Work, Education, or related field.
• Licensed or certified in a relevant field preferred.
• 7-10 years of experience in student support or well-being in a school setting.
• Experience designing proactive well-being programming for a broad student population.
• Experience leading an advisory or mentorship program, including training faculty.
• Leadership experience managing counseling staff, budgets, and program operations.
• Familiarity with mandated reporting and FERPA regulations.
• Strong communication and collaboration with students, families, and colleagues.
• Commitment to inclusive support aligned with Catholic teaching.

Responsibilities

• Lead Upper School counseling team and wellness programming.
• Set vision for well-being initiatives across Grades 9–12.
• Coordinate with Health Office and school nurse on health matters.
• Develop and maintain wellness policy and procedures.
• Provide training for faculty advisors.
• Monitor workload, schedules, and student balance patterns.
• Collaborate with Lower/Middle School counselors for continuity.
• Communicate with families on student well-being.
• Oversee advisory program and re-entry plans.
