Job summary

Schuff Steel in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Director of Steel Procurement to lead the purchasing group for steel and related commodities. You will direct the steel team in support of production, operations, field, sales, estimating, and accounting, building a high-performing organization and strong supplier relationships.

Responsibilities include market pricing, pre-bid support, mill buy planning, price risk management, and ensuring compliance with Buy America, tariffs and traceability

Qualifications

• Ten or more years of purchasing leadership in a steel fabrication or construction/manufacturing environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics or related field or 10+ years of experience in lieu of a degree.
• Understanding of Buy America, tariffs and trade regulations.
• Experience with ERP and procurement systems, cost accounting and budgeting.

Responsibilities

• Provide market pricing, availability and insight to sales and estimating.
• Develop sourcing strategies to manage steel price volatility and lead times.
• Plan mill buys and lead times in coordination with production scheduling.
• Negotiate vendor contracts and terms with Legal and management.
• Ensure compliance with tariffs, Buy America and country-of-origin requirements.
• Lead and develop procurement team and monitor performance.
