Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a Director of Solar Construction to oversee drilling operations for solar foundations across projects nationwide. This role leads SDI Services’ professional team, coordinates with engineers and architects, and ensures alignment with safety, schedule, and budget requirements.

The position involves frequent travel, strong leadership, and accountability for project delivery from inception to completion, maintaining detailed records and robust cost tracking.

Qualifications

• Engineering, Construction Management or Architectural degree or equivalent experience.
• Strong field construction management experience (5-10 years) including supervisory skills.
• Extensive knowledge of solar construction techniques, equipment, and technology.
• Proficiency in solar project construction, including understanding solar array components.
• Familiarity with industry standards, codes, and regulations.
• Proficiency in project management, including budgeting and scheduling.
• Leadership ability
• Problem-solving ability and strong sense of urgency
• Organizational and communication skills
• Drafting and computer skills
• Fundamental knowledge of contract law and project accounting
• Understanding of project management control systems (scheduling, cost control, procurement and estimating)

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategies for efficient and effective foundation drilling for solar installations.
• Lead and manage a team of professionals, including engineers and construction workers.
• Collaborate with engineers and architects to design and plan foundation solutions.
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations throughout project lifecycles.
• Monitor project budgets, timelines, and quality control.
• Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
• Implement best practices for solar construction to optimize project outcomes.
• Support Project Manager and Project Superintendent in delivering a successful project to our clients.
• Maintaining detailed daily construction records.
• Following project specifications and maintaining quality control records.
• Updating project schedules and cost tracking
• Plan, coordinate, and oversee solar projects from inception to completion.
• Conduct site assessments to determine project feasibility, logistics, and potential risks.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to develop solar plans and schedules.
• Supervise solar operations, ensuring adherence to safety standards and quality control.
• Monitor and report project progress, budget, and compliance with regulations.
• Act as the liaison between clients, subcontractors, and internal teams, fostering effective communication.
• Identifies and resolve problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information; develops alternative solutions; works well in group problem solving situations.
