Job summary

SOLV Energy, Inc. is seeking a Director of Solar Construction within SDI Services, an SOLV Energy affiliate. This role oversees drilling operations and construction across solar projects, leading engineers and field crews, ensuring safety, budgeting, and schedule adherence.

Frequent travel is expected as projects span multiple sites. The Director will collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to deliver high-quality infrastructure for utility-scale solar installations.

Qualifications

• Engineering, Construction Management or Architectural degree, or equivalent experience.
• 5–10 years field construction management experience with supervisory duties.
• Extensive knowledge of solar construction techniques, equipment and technology.
• Proficiency in solar project construction and understanding of array components.
• Leadership, budgeting and scheduling expertise; strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategies for efficient and effective foundation drilling for solar installations.
• Lead and manage a team of professionals, including engineers and construction workers.
• Collaborate with engineers and architects to design and plan foundation solutions.
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations throughout project lifecycles.
• Monitor project budgets, timelines, and quality control.
• Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
• Implement best practices for solar construction to optimize project outcomes.
• Support Project Manager and Project Superintendent in delivering a successful project to our clients.
• Maintaining detailed daily construction records.
• Following project specifications and maintaining quality control records.
• Updating project schedules and cost tracking
• Plan, coordinate, and oversee solar projects from inception to completion.
• Conduct site assessments to determine project feasibility, logistics, and potential risks.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to develop solar plans and schedules.
• Supervise solar operations, ensuring adherence to safety standards and quality control.
• Monitor and report project progress, budget, and compliance with regulations.
• Act as the liaison between clients, subcontractors, and internal teams, fostering effective communication.
• Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully; develops alternative solutions; works well in group problem solving situations; uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.
• Follows instructions, responds to management direction; takes responsibility for own actions; keeps commitments; commits to long hours of work when necessary to reach goals.
