Job summary

Toyota North America is seeking a Director of Software Engineering to lead Enterprise Shared Services. You will set technology strategy, mentor engineers, and drive high-impact, cloud-native platforms across distributed systems.

This role requires extensive leadership, collaboration with domain owners, and a track record of delivering scalable solutions using Java, Spring, Kafka, and AWS.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of expertise as a software engineering leader.
• 10+ years practical knowledge of cloud platforms.
• 10+ years practical knowledge of advanced software design patterns & architecture (Domain Driven Design, Simple Design…) and DevOps.
• 3+ years of experience with real-time event-driven, microservice architecture using Kafka and related technologies.
• 5+ years of proficiency in Java, Spring Framework (Spring Batch, Spring Integration), streaming technologies (Kafka) and microservices architecture.
• Demonstrated experience building production-grade systems covering operational readiness, security, efficiency and other Non-FunctionalRequirements.
• 5+ years of direct management experience, with a proven history of acting as change agent for the company.
• Demonstrated experience building high-performing teams with enterprise-wide reach.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering collaboration and excellence.
• Develop and implement a strategic roadmap for technology initiatives across Enterprise Shared Services.
• Manage vendor relationships and drive value-added partnerships to support technology initiatives.
